2nd alarm in Rising Sun

Rising Sun, Port Deposit and Perryville were alerted for a structure fire shortly after 2330 hours. E6 made the response on initial alert. Asst. 28 arrived with a working attic fire and requested the 2nd alarm bringing Tanker 6 to the scene, Crews worked on scene for several hours assisting with extinguishment, salvage and overhaul.

The Community Fire Company of Perryville, Md is sad to announce that shortly after 11am, Fire Police Captain David Barr Sr. succumbed to injuries sustained after being stuck on October 25th while performing traffic control duties on scene of a MVC. Barr was a retired 34-year firefighter and retired lieutenant from the Federal Fire Service at Perry Point Veterans Hospital and a 13-year member of the Community Fire Company of Perryville and a member of Water Witch Volunteer Fire Company. He is only the third fire company official to die in the line of duty in Cecil County history. Funeral arrangements are still being finalized at this time. Please keep the Barr family and our FD family in your thoughts and prayers.

Passing of Austin D. Amos

It is with deep regret and sorrow that the Community Fire Company of Perryville MD Inc. announces the passing of Past President Austin D. Amos. "Aussie" passed away on Thursday September 5th. Austin joined the Fire Company in 1952, and served as President of the department for 13 years. In addition, he served as a board of director for several years.
Austin was also Past President of the Harford/Cecil Fireman's Association, and Past President of the Cecil County Volunteer Fireman's Association.
Austin was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Harford/Cecil Fireman's Association as well as the Maryland State Fireman's Association.
In addition, he also served as Mayor of the Town of Perryville, and Town Commissioner for several years.
Services will be held at Patterson's Funeral Home in Perryville. The viewing will be on Monday September 9th from 2pm-4pm & from 7pm-9pm. The funeral will be held on Tuesday September 10th at 2pm with a wake afterwards at the American Legion Post 135 in Perryville.
Departments wishing to participate should contact Asst. Chief 6-1 (McGuirk), or 6-2 (Jones).

Passing of Life Member Larry “Juice” Perry

It is with the deepest regret that The Community Fire Company of Perryville Md. Inc. announces the death of Larry "Juice" Perry. Juice was a Life Member of the Fire Company and served many offices. Services are as follows. Viewing Sunday July,7 1400-1600 & 1900-2100 hrs. Funeral services are Monday July, 8 at 1100hrs at Patterson’s Funeral Home and internment will be at Principio Methodist Church. Wake to follow at Perryville Fire House Minker Hall. All Fire company members are urged to wear Class A Dress if you have it. If your company would like to bring apparatus please contact AC 6-2 Brian Jones (443)-553-4876.
